If you find that the printed image is unexpectedly faint or dots in the printed image are missing, you may be able to solve these problems by cleaning the Epson print head, which ensures that the printer’s nozzles are delivering ink properly.
And if you are careful, your clogged print head will be cleaned with ease. There are two regular ways to tidy the print heads up.
The first way is using a syringe and cleaning solution.
Turn your printer on and pick the top cover up to it is open position.
Start a cleaning cycle up or push the paper feed or cartridge change button and keep for three seconds.
After the print head starts to run from it’s parked or home position on the right side.
Disconnect it from electrical outlet immediately.
Detect the “sponge pads” to apply the cleaning solution: Push the carriage head to the left out of the way to gain access. The cap is just assembly localized below where the print head parks on the right. The sponge pads are on the left or under it depending on the printer model. Use a cotton swab or folder paper to clean excess ink up on the pads. You must watch out that the newer Epson printer model don’t have the sponge pad. Thus you can skip that step if you don’t see the sponge pads.
Now you can locate a folder paper towel or coffee filter under the print head. In some cases, you may also cut the paper towel into strips to have them slip under the print head.
The filters towel serve two functions, the first one is it will help stop the liquid from leaking into printer and the second on is helping to wick the ink out of the print head.
Next let’s draw some cleaning solutions water into the syringe and locate it over the ink inlet post. And then it’s very slowly to inject the cleaning fluid water into ink outlet post if you have too much pressure, the print head will be damaged.
Regularly a new cc’s in each post will do the job. But some may need more and some will need to tidy up many times to completely unclog the print head. Once you have brought solution into the ink inlet posts, you had better let the print head soak at least 3 hours or overnight if it’s necessary. Commonly the longer it soaks, the better it has but you will need to keep checking the paper towel to see if they have dried out. At present let’s slide the print head side to side some times to replace any foreign problem from the face of print head.

Using a old ink cartridge
The second method to clean Print Head
The second method is injecting the cleaning fluid into an empty ink cartridge (making it into a cleaning cartridge) and after running a new head cleaning, you can print some pages of large pictures. You are ended cleaning just replace the “cleaning cartridge” you made and locate it into zip lock bag till the following time you need. This way does work but is less effective.
Things not to do while Clean Print Head
Don’t use Window cleaners, Alcohol, Bleach, Peroxide, Lighter fluid, degreasers, engine cleaner, mineral spirits or laquer thinner.
Don’t use force or compressed air because they can cause serious damage for the print head.
For the syringe anything will run from 1ML to 10ML. I usually use a 2.5 or 5CC syringe but I used a 10CC one on the stubborn print heads. Epson print head cleaning kit comes with a 1 ML one. CC is the same as ML so a 5CC one is the same as 5ML one. You can own it from pet shops or feed and gain store. Or in most ink cartridge refill kits.cc = cubic centimeters ml = milliliters.
